Organisé à Istanbul, Mr Gay Syria est bien plus qu’un concours de beauté : c’est un acte militant et un vibrant appel à l’aide face à la persécution que vivent les Syriens LGBTI, chez eux et en exil. Husein et les autres concurrents risquent leur vie pour pouvoir, peut-être, voyager en Europe de l’ouest et échapper à leur condition insoutenable.

Organized in Istanbul, Mr Gay Syria is much more than a beauty pageant: it is an activist campaign and a vibrant call for help in the face of persecution of LGBTI Syrians at home and in exile. Husein and the other competitors risk their lives so that they can perhaps one day travel to Western Europe and escape their unbearable condition.
